Who makes Active Matter

The short answer

Active Matter is developed by Matter Team and published by Gaijin Network Ltd on PC. It runs on the Dagor Engine, the publisher's own engine. The game's official site is activematter.game.

The developer's name appears three ways across official surfaces — Matter Team, Team Matter, and Matter.Team where the game's own page footer styles it as a linked wordmark. They are the same studio; this site uses Matter Team throughout and treats the other forms as the same entity rather than as separate credits.

The publisher, and what it is

Gaijin Network Ltd operates the Gaijin Store, which is where the PC version's editions are sold outside Steam, and the store requires a login to buy. The corporate site at gaijinent.com is © 2010—2026 Gaijin Entertainment, and the store and game footers read © 2026 Gaijin Games Kft. The Gaijin Store's own navigation places Active Matter in a list alongside the publisher's other storefront categories — War Thunder, War Thunder Mobile, Enlisted, Star Wrath, Modern Warships and Crossout — which is the publisher's own statement of its catalogue rather than a claim made here about any of those games. On the console storefronts the publisher field reads Gaijin Distribution Kft, the distribution arm.

What no page states

No founding date, studio history, headcount or studio location for Matter Team appears on any page checked for this batch. That is a gap in the record rather than a secret, and this page says so instead of filling it: a plausible-sounding studio biography assembled from memory would be the single easiest way to make this page wrong. What can be said about the studio is what it has shipped, which is the list further down.

Official channels

  • activematter.game, the game's own site, with News, Game, FAQ and Partnership sections. The FAQ is the source of the long-lived rules quoted across this site, including the crossplay pools, the restriction on shared progress, Steam Deck and Linux support, and the language list.
  • The official X account, @amgame_official, which opened in January 2024 and carried the launch announcements, the build notes and a Harmonization Cycles question-and-answer post. It is the account this site cites for launch-day statements.
  • An official Discord, linked from the game's own pages and the Steam listing.
  • An official YouTube channel, which carries the trailers and the developer's own preview content.
  • The Steam news hub, which carries the update posts in a dated archive.

The developer also runs a community-management function rather than leaving the channels to announcements alone: a launch-period video introduces one of the lead community managers by name and walks through the game's premise and modes. That is worth recording because it is the channel through which the studio talks about design intent, and it is a different voice from the store page.

The publisher's own game page is the source of the 2025 and 2026 update headlines; the build numbers and their contents come from the developer's posts on the official account and the Steam news hub. The pattern the list shows is a studio that shipped a PC early version, kept adding location-scale updates to it, and then took the same build to three platforms at once rather than holding content for a console launch.

Who owns what

*Active Matter*, its logos, artwork, screenshots and in-game data belong to Matter Team, Gaijin Network Ltd or their licensors, and nothing on this site grants a licence to any of them. The site's own text, tables and diagrams are this site's. Facts — a release date, a price, an engine name — are not owned by anyone. The full statement is on the terms page.
